What's new
Changes in Moket Studio that affect how you work, newest first. Each entry links to the updated help article.
October 2026
Saving
- Fixed: assemblies, drawings and notes now ask what to keep when they changed elsewhere while this tab had changes of its own, as parts do, and show Choose what to keep in a banner over the view. Before, only Changed elsewhere in the top bar showed it. See When the part changed elsewhere.
Plugins
- New: Write a plugin shows how to make plugins of your own in TypeScript: the manifest and its params, building features, naming faces, exports, limits and testing. Install its example, Rounded box, by its address, or download the starter package and the SDK's types. While you write a plugin, Moket installs it from
http://localhost. - Fixed: the dialog of a plugin you installed shows its fields in the plugin's own order. For a plugin installed before, install it again from its address or file. See Install plugins.
- New: Moket AI and agents design leather goods with the Leather Workbench: pieces, stitch lines with their hole counts, holes and folds, also with no Moket tab open. They use the features of your own plugins while Moket is open in a tab. The Moket skill has a Leather guide.
- New: Export pattern in the Leather Workbench: every piece flat at 1:1 with its cut line, stitch holes, fold lines, grain and label, as PDF tiled on A4 or A3 to print at home, PDF on one sheet, SVG and DXF by layer, with a 50 mm test square.
- New: the Leather Workbench, Moket's own plugin, on for every account: flat Pieces of leather with their finish, Stitch lines with holes spread evenly by length, Stitch holes punched the same through every layer, Allowance for the cut line, and Fold for stacked layers. Stitches show on the pieces; Display > Threads and knurls shows or hides them.
- New: plugins add features and workbenches to the part editor. Install one in Settings > Plugins from its address or a package file; it is on for your account only and runs isolated in your browser. A part opened without its plugin keeps the last result of the plugin's features.
Panels
- New: an eye on each component in the assembly's Assembly column hides it from the view, and Show all brings everything back. See Show and hide components.
- New: drag the edge of the browser, a note's outline or the Home sidebar to make it wider. See Make a side panel wider.
Display
- New: Display in the corner of the part and assembly editors: Product view shows only the product, without joint labels, origin, grid, planes, sketches and other aids (
Shift+V); each aid can be hidden on its own; Wireframe style, edges on or off, and an Orthographic camera. Each part and assembly remembers its own display. - Changed: Realistic shading and Flat shading moved from Views to Display > Style.
Agents and editors
- Changed: ISO 4032 and ISO 4035 nuts and ISO 7089 and ISO 7090 washers in the standard parts go on to M36.
- Fixed: a part, drawing or assembly open in a read-only tab shows a revision an AI agent or another tab saved as soon as it is saved, so neither you nor an agent works on an older copy. See One part, one editor.
- Fixed: copies of a tapped hole made by Pattern or Mirror keep its thread, so a screw in a copy is no interference.
Project notes
- Changed: an agent's plan for a note shows how many lines it adds and removes in each section, and agents can start a note with only the headings it needs.
- New: notes in projects: Markdown documents with a preview that keep a project's purpose, decisions, settings, checks and open questions. New > Note in a project. AI agents read a project's notes before they work on it and propose updates at the end, as plans you approve.
- Changed: New drawing, New assembly and New template on a project's page are now in one New menu, with Note.
Help
- Changed: Export now says that STEP and STL hold the active configuration, and how to export each one.
Home
- New: cards on Home and on project pages show their kind, Part, Assembly or Drawing, each in its own color, and a filter shows one kind at a time. Recent parts is now Recent.
Lead screw threads
- New: trapezoidal and ACME threads for lead screws and their nuts, in Thread and in tapped holes.
- New: Starts and Left-hand for every thread, for example the 4-start Tr8x8(P2) screws of 3D printers.
- New: standard parts DIN 103 trapezoidal hex nuts and the T8 flanged lead screw nut.
Materials
- New: material Bronze (CuSn8), for lead screw nuts, plain bushings and worm wheels.
Motion studies
- Changed: Check collisions on large assemblies runs 2 to 6 times faster, and a check of poses already checked about 20 times faster. A screw turning in its nut no longer slows it down. See Motion studies.
- Changed: Check collisions steps a lead screw by half a millimeter of the travel it makes, so a study of a screw turning many times checks in a fraction of the steps. Check steps > Fine checks it by the degree as before. See Motion studies.
Fixes
- Fixed: motion studies and interference checks of large assemblies, about a hundred components, no longer check again at every pose the parts that do not move, and run many times faster.
- Fixed: interference checks at a pose, motion studies and their previews on large assemblies no longer fail with "Unknown or released shape id".
- Fixed: interference no longer reports a screw in the second lug of a tapped hole that runs through two lugs, or a thin sliver where a tapped hole breaks into a bore.
In-context design
- New: design a part in context: Edit in context opens a part with its assembly faded around it, to sketch on other components' faces, project their edges and extrude up to them. The part keeps copies, so it builds anywhere; when the components it was designed against change, the assembly flags it and Update context saves a new version that follows them.
Joints and bearings
- New: Extrude To face ends an extrusion on a face or plane you pick, flat or slanted, and follows it when it moves.
- New: Offset X and Offset Y on a joint move the point it starts from across its axis, for example so a carriage's travel starts at the end of its rail. Offset is now Offset Z.
- New: standard parts have angular contact ball bearings (7200B to 7304B) and ISO 355 tapered roller bearings (30202 to 32304).
Guides for agents
- Changed: Fasten locks each screw's turn, so fastened screws no longer count as degrees of freedom and a bolted assembly shows 0. Screws fastened before keep turning until you fasten them again or set their joint's limits.
- New: give your agent the Moket skill: the guides as an Agent Skill for Claude Code, Claude, Codex and other agents, to download as a skill package, one Markdown file, PDF or plain text. Copy prompt in Settings > Agents installs it in Claude Code and Codex, and Agent skill there opens the page.
- New: guides for agents: agents read Moket's guides on parts, sketches, assemblies, mechanisms, drawings, project parameters and the library with
read_guideor as MCP resources, with examples that Moket builds on every update. - Changed: Moket AI works from the guides for the kind of document you have open, so it follows the same rules as agents.
- Fixed: text in Inter with two letters or more failed to build.
Project parameters
- New: share sizes across a project: Parameters on a project's page holds sizes that parts and assemblies read as
project.<name>; a change lists the documents it reaches, checks them before you apply it, and they follow without new versions. - New: set a part's parameters in an assembly: a component takes its own value for any of its part's parameters, such as a shaft's length, and the parts list counts other values apart. Parameters in the assembly toolbar edits the assembly's parameters.
- New: Moket AI and agents read and change the project's parameters, see which documents a change reaches before it is saved, and set a part's parameters on a component.
- Changed: the part's Parameters dialog lists the project's parameters, marks parameters that read them and suggests
project.names as you type.
Fixes from agents' work
- New: agents make a new project themselves when you ask, instead of asking you to make one.
- Changed: a Moket tab open since before an update reloads by itself to the new version when an agent works and the tab is on a page of Home, so agents always use the latest Moket. See Agent activity.
- Changed: Joints explains which way X points across a pick, the direction a pin-slot or planar joint slides.
- New: Moket AI and agents send feedback to Moket when a tool misbehaves or something is missing; Settings > Agents lists what they sent and turns it off. The owner reads it on the Problems page.
- New: materials Grey cast iron, Cast aluminum and Epoxy granite.
- Changed: a joint direction whose limits have the same Min and Max is locked and no longer counts as a degree of freedom.
- Changed: Moket AI and agents check a pose for interference without changing the assembly, check long motions in parts so they always answer, and read the assembly's mass and center of mass.
- Fixed: an agent's change can set the material of a body it creates in the same change, and build a whole configuration table at once.
Component library
- New: keep parts in your library: File > Publish to library in the part editor makes a version of a part with its maker, part number, datasheet and sizes; Library in an assembly's toolbar inserts it into any of your projects; Update moves components to a newer version and Edit a copy makes a project part of one; Home > Library lists your items with their versions and the assemblies that use them.
- Changed: the parts list shows the maker and part number of library parts, and its CSV has Maker and Part number columns for them.
- New: Moket AI and agents search your library before they model a bought part, insert and update its versions, and offer to publish a part they modeled from a datasheet.
Agents without switching tabs
- New: connect Moket to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Codex as a connector: the app signs in and you click Allow, with no token to copy; Settings > Agents lists Connected apps with Revoke.
- Changed: the Agents (MCP) section of Settings is now Agents, and its tokens are under Personal access tokens.
- New: where your Moket server offers it, agents work without an open tab on Moket's server; turn it off in Settings > Agents (MCP).
- New: a change an agent made that waits for you is kept in your account until you decide, after a reload, in every tab and in the editor of its document.
- Changed: agents work on any part, drawing or assembly of your projects while a Moket tab is open on any page; they no longer need the document open, and new documents they make no longer open in your tab.
- New: Agent activity shows what an agent has open and the changes that wait for you, with Apply, Discard and Open.
Drawing fixes
- Fixed: a section of the top view cut across to the side moves where you drag it instead of jumping a row away, and the leader of a feature control frame leaves the frame on the side nearest its feature.
- Changed: a diameter or radius outside its circle carries its value on a short horizontal line, and the value of a length too short for it goes outside its extension lines, so no line runs through a value.
- Fixed: DXF dimensions of views at another scale than 1:1 measure the part's size in other CAD programs, not twice or half of it.
- Changed: Moket AI and agents check drawings for texts a line or another text runs through and move them clear.
- New: a length from a circle can measure to a side of it instead of its center, for the overall size of a rounded part.
- Fixed: texts on the sheet are as large as in the PDF and keep their spaces, so the depth, counterbore and GD&T signs sit where they belong.
- Changed: the built-in revision table has room for a date and a name in its cells; switch Revision table off and on in a template made earlier to take the new widths.
- Fixed: the title block shows the material's name, the part's name and material as soon as a drawing opens, and the drawing's latest revision.
- Changed: the standard views use more of the sheet: a 102 x 80 mm plate goes on A3 at 1:1.
Moket AI on manufacturing drawings
- Changed: Moket AI and agents check drawings for holes and threads without a callout and for bores that a joint uses without a fit, and agents can draw on a project's template.
Better DXF
- Changed: DXF exports write dimensions as dimension objects, section hatching as hatch objects, and datums, feature control frames and surface symbols as blocks with attributes, on the new SYMBOL and TITLE layers; texts use the ISOCPEUR or ROMANS style.
Drawing templates
- New: drawing templates: your own frame and title block, made in the template editor with lines, texts, tables and fields, and picked per drawing under Template.
- New: import a title block from a DXF or SVG file, its
{field}texts as fields, and add your logo as a PNG or JPEG.
Revisions and zones
- New: revisions listed in a revision table at the sheet's top right, the latest in the title block.
- New: sheets have zones and centring marks around the frame (ISO 5457, ASME Y14.1).
GD&T and surface texture
- New: datums and feature control frames to ISO 1101 and ASME Y14.5, with the standard's rules checked on every frame.
- New: surface texture symbols on surfaces and a general symbol above the title block.
- Changed: symbols in callouts and frames (counterbore, depth, GD&T) are drawn as lines, so they look the same on screen, in PDF and in DXF.
Tolerances and fits
- New: tolerances on sizes: plus or minus, deviations, limits, ISO 286 fits with deviations from the standard's tables, basic and reference sizes; general tolerances above the title block (ISO 2768-m on new ISO drawings, a tolerance block on ASME ones).
Dimensions and hole callouts
- New: angle, chamfer, ordinate and arc length dimensions.
- New: hole and thread callouts write a hole's count, drill, depth, counterbore or countersink and thread from the part, in ISO or ASME notation. Moket AI uses them on every hole.
Detail, broken and auxiliary views
- New: detail views show small features larger, broken views leave out the middle of long parts with dimensions kept true, and auxiliary views show inclined faces at their true size. Moket AI and MCP agents make them too.
Section views
- New: section views: cut a front, top or side view along a straight, offset or half cutting line; the cut faces are hatched, the cutting line gets its letter and arrows, and dimensions on the cut follow the part. Moket AI and MCP agents make them too.
Drawing standards
- New: drawings follow ISO or ASME and show millimeters or inches. ASME drawings use third angle, ANSI A to E sheets, ASME title block wording and ASME Y14.5 dimension text; a part modeled in inches starts an ASME drawing in inches.
- New: sheet sizes A2, A1 and A0, and ANSI A to E.
MCP agents
- Changed: an MCP agent that creates several parts, drawings or assemblies opens each in the tab with its last new one, without a click from you.
- Changed: on an assembly, plans of Moket AI and agents list the relations, rigid groups, motion studies and exploded views they add, change or remove.
- Fixed: the Loading the parts banner stayed on assemblies with library parts after they had loaded.
Viewport images for AI
- New: Send viewport images to AI in Settings, off by default: Moket AI and MCP agents can then ask for a picture of the open part, drawing or assembly, at most 1024 px, and the panel shows it.
Threads, coils and knurls
- New: Thread on shafts and in holes, ISO metric coarse and fine, UNC and UNF, cosmetic or modeled; cosmetic threads show on the face and are named in STEP files.
- New: tapped holes: the Tapped option drills the tap drill and threads the hole.
- New: library screws and nuts come with cosmetic threads, and a screw in a tapped hole of its size is no longer an interference.
- New: Coil for springs: turns, pitch or height, taper, left or right hand, ground ends.
- New: Knurl, straight or diamond, cosmetic or modeled.
Sketch splines and text
- New: splines in sketches, through fit points or shaped by control points, in every profile and sweep path.
- New: text in sketches in Noto Sans, Noto Sans Mono or Inter, regular or bold, to engrave or emboss;
{name}shows a parameter's value, so a part number follows the part. - New: Moket AI and MCP agents draw splines and text.
Linkages
- New: exploded views: steps that move components apart along the assembly's axes or a joint's, shown part or all of the way, with trail lines.
- New: Moket AI and MCP agents check a motion study for collisions.
- New: motion studies: keyframes over time, played and scrubbed under the viewport, checked for collisions along the motion, and exported as a video or a GIF.
- New: relations couple two joints: gears, belts, rack and pinion and screws, with the ratio suggested from the parts; the follower's limits stop the driver.
- New: closed loops are solved. A four-bar linkage closes at every crank angle as you drive it: the crank drives and the other joints follow, keeping their way of closing.
- New: ball, planar and pin-slot joints, each with a position and limits for every free direction.
- New: rigid groups make components move as one without picking faces.
Subassemblies
- New: subassemblies: insert an assembly of the project into another, rigid or flexible, attach joints to the parts inside it, set its free axes from the top, and count it in the parts list top level, indented or as parts only.
- New: Moket AI and MCP agents insert subassemblies and reach the parts inside them.
- New: Export STEP keeps subassemblies as assemblies in the file, and Import STEP on a project page turns an assembly file into its parts and assemblies.
Standard parts
- New: Moket AI and MCP agents look up and insert standard parts by standard and size.
- New: Fasten: click a hole's edge and get a screw that fits it, with its size from the hole and its length from the parts it goes through, on a joint, in every hole like it on the face; a washer and a nut when asked.
- New: Insert a standard part from the built-in library: ISO and ANSI socket, button head, countersunk, set and hex screws, nuts, washers, ball bearings and O-rings in their standard sizes and lengths, with a preview, a finish and a quantity.
- Changed: a component built in a configuration of its part is named with the configuration, for example Bracket Large:1.
- New: the material NBR rubber (1.2 g/cm³), with the rubber finish.
Configurations
- New: configurations keep sizes and variants of one part in one document: a table of rows over parameters and features built or suppressed, switched in Configs or Part properties. In an assembly each component picks its configuration, and the parts list counts part and configuration.
Appearance
- New: give a part its finish: anodized, brushed, polished, black oxide, brass, rubber, plastics, glass and more, with a colour, on the whole part, a body or single faces. Bodies show their finishes lit like in a room, and each material brings its default finish: aluminium bead blasted, steel polished, plastics matte. Views > Flat shading shows the plain grey again.
- New: an assembly component can have an appearance of its own over its part's.
- New: STEP export of parts and assemblies writes the colours of finishes and the part's name, and Import STEP turns the file's colours into appearances of the new bodies and faces.
Files
- New: Import a STEP file into a part, or make a new part from one with Import STEP on a project page. The solids become bodies you can build on; replacing the file keeps the features on faces that did not change.
Sketch
- Fixed: Offset of edges projected one by one, such as the outline of a face, now makes one closed loop with shared corners instead of separate lines.
- New: sketch tools Slot and Polygon, Trim and Extend, Offset that stays linked to the original, Mirror, sketch Fillet and Project for model edges that follow the model.
- Changed: the sketch toolbar is grouped into Create, Modify and Constrain. Center rectangle and Center arc moved under the arrows next to Rectangle and Arc; the constraints are a compact block of buttons.
Modeling
- Fixed: a Shell whose wall is too thick for the body, for example thicker than a fillet, now fails and says why. Before, it could leave the body solid without a warning. The Problems panel shows the cause next to the failure. Both now makes a wall half inside and half outside the body; before, it left the body solid.
- Fixed: a sketch on a drafted or slightly tilted wall no longer turns by 90 degrees; its horizontal axis follows the wall (Create a sketch). Sketches already placed on such walls turn back to that orientation.
- Fixed: when one Extrude adds several separate shapes to a body, each new face gets its own name, so a sketch or a fillet on one of them no longer reports that the face matches several.
- Changed: large parts rebuild faster: an edit rebuilds only the features that depend on it, and the kernel works out only what an operation changed. A rebuild that takes longer than a second shows its progress in the status bar, a large part opened again on the same device shows its saved model at once while it rebuilds, and sketches with hundreds of curves solve and drag without delay.
- New: Sweep moves a profile along a path of sketch curves and model edges, with mitred sharp corners. Loft builds a solid through two or more profiles, smooth or ruled.
- Changed: a sketch of only open curves, such as a sweep path, no longer shows a warning.
- New: Shell hollows a body to a wall thickness with picked faces open, inside, outside or on both sides. Draft tilts faces about a neutral plane for molded parts. Mirror copies features, which follow their originals, or whole bodies across a plane.
- Changed: when a plane and a face are both under the cursor, a click picks the face; the see-through origin planes no longer get in the way.
Problems and feedback
- Fixed: a large part on a busy computer no longer stops with "The rebuild took too long" while it is still building feature after feature. A rebuild now stops only when it makes no progress for 30 s (see Troubleshooting).
- Fixed: a tab left open while Moket was updated now loads the new version when you open another page or tool, instead of failing with an error that was also sent as an automatic error report.
- New: Report a problem from Help in the part, drawing and assembly editors, or from Report on a problem in the Problems panel, with a copy of the part, a screenshot and what happened in the tab. Follow your reports in Settings > Diagnostics.
- New: automatic error reports send unexpected errors, kernel failures and slow operations to Moket, without your parts or values. Switch them off in Settings > Diagnostics.
- New: the owner sees reports and grouped errors on the Problems page, opens a copy of a reported part and downloads a bundle to reproduce it.
Assemblies
- New: a joint that repeats another one, for example after a plan was sent twice, is flagged in the Problems panel (Troubleshooting).
- Fixed: plans on assemblies list new components by their names in the tree, such as
Bearing 608:2, instead of "Component". - New: Moket AI on assemblies: it reads the components, joints and degrees of freedom, checks interference, and inserts and joins components as checked plans. MCP agents can build assemblies and draw them.
- New: drawings of assemblies: Drawing in the assembly editor places the standard views of all components, the parts list above the title block and a balloon for every item. Balloons and the parts list follow the assembly.
- New: the interference check finds overlapping components and shows the shared volume; press fits can be marked intended. The parts list counts parts with material and mass and downloads as CSV. Export STEP writes the whole assembly into one file.
- New: joints between components: fixed, revolute, slider and cylindrical, picked on faces, edges or the components' origins, with offset, angle and flip. Drive them with the Motion bar within their limits. A joint whose face is gone is flagged and moves nothing until you reattach or delete it.
- New: assemblies of the parts in a project: File > New assembly in a part, or New assembly in a project. Insert components with a quantity, ground one, and move and turn the others with a gizmo or by their position. Assemblies follow their parts' latest revisions and are saved with versions like parts.
Drawings
Changed: Moket AI and agents dimension drawings fully unless you ask for less: overall sizes in all three directions, holes with their positions, fillets, chamfers and patterns.
New: Moket AI on drawings: it places views and adds dimensions, center marks, centerlines and notes as plans. MCP agents can create drawings of parts and work on them.
New: export drawings as PDF (every sheet at true size, vector, the font embedded) and DXF (AutoCAD R2000 with ISO layers), made in the browser.
New: dimensions on drawings (horizontal, vertical, aligned, radius, diameter), center marks, centerlines and notes. Dimensions measure the part's edges and follow its changes; a dimension whose edge is gone stays with a warning and no value until you reattach or delete it.
New: drawings of parts on ISO A4 and A3 sheets: File > New drawing... in a part, or New drawing in a project. Front, top, side and isometric views with hidden lines are placed and scaled for you, the title block fills in from the part, and the views follow the part's latest revision.
Moket AI
- Fixed: after Moket is updated, a part open in your browser comes back to MCP agents and Moket AI by itself, without reloading the page.
- Fixed: when you leave a part, reload the page or close the tab, an MCP agent sees at once that the part is no longer open, instead of waiting 30 seconds for an answer.
- Fixed: when a change Moket AI proposes fails to rebuild, it now also gets the reason the feature gives, such as a wall thicker than a fillet, and can fix its plan instead of reporting an unknown error (Ask Moket AI).
- Changed: autonomy levels are gone. A plan from Moket AI or an MCP agent that passes every check now applies at once; a plan with a failed check or a lost face or edge still waits for Apply. To approve deletions, changes to what is in the part, or every change yourself, turn on Ask before applying AI changes in Settings: one setting for your account, for Moket AI and agents in every part.
- New: MCP agents can create parts: ask for a new part while Moket Studio is open on Home or a project, and the tab opens it for the agent.
- Fixed: an MCP agent waiting for you to click Apply no longer stops with an error when the part's tab is in the background.
- New: after you create an MCP access token, Moket gives you a setup prompt for Claude Code, Codex or another agent; paste it into the agent's chat and the agent connects Moket itself.
- New: Moket Studio and Moket Help have their own icon in the browser tab.
- Fixed: when an MCP agent started working on a part, its first plan could be missing from the Moket AI panel.
- New: Moket AI answers questions about the open part and changes it on request. It shows each change as a plan with checks Moket measures on a 3D preview; the part changes only when you click Apply, and every applied plan is one undo step. Open it with Moket AI in the top bar or
Ctrl+I. - New: autonomy levels per part, from Ask (advice only) to Auto (valid plans apply at once).
- New: Settings with what Moket AI may send, your own Anthropic and OpenAI keys, default model and autonomy, and this month's usage.
- Preview: connect Claude Code and other MCP agents to the parts open in your browser; their changes wait for Apply too.
Accounts
- Moket Studio now needs a Moket account. Accounts are created from invite links while Moket is in closed access. See Sign in to Moket.
- Home shows your recent parts and projects. Create projects and parts, import and download
.cadpackfiles: Organize parts in projects. - The owner invites people and creates password reset links: Invite people.
- Parts are saved to your account after every change and open on any computer: How Moket saves your work. One tab edits a part at a time; Edit here instead moves editing. Changes made offline go up when the network returns, and when the part changed elsewhere meanwhile you choose what continues; nothing is lost.
- Versions: name versions with
Ctrl+S, look at any older revision and restore it.Ctrl+Sno longer downloads the part; use File > Save as .cadpack. - File > Open... is now Import .cadpack...: the file becomes a part in the project. File > New part creates a part in the same project.
Part editor
- Changed: a hole that drills away from the body and cuts nothing is now an error (
HOLE_MISSES_BODY) instead of a step that silently does nothing. - Moket Studio now opens the part editor: build real parts in the browser. Start with Create your first part and the interface tour.
- Sketches with lines, rectangles, circles, arcs and points, snapping, constraints and dimensions.
- Features: Extrude, Revolve, Hole, Fillet, Chamfer, Pattern, Combine and construction planes, each with a live preview.
- Parameters and expressions in every value field.
- Edit any feature, suppress it or roll back the history; the Problems panel explains what failed and how to fix it.
- Measure distances and angles; units, materials and mass.
- Export STEP and STL; save and open
.cadpackfiles. - Keyboard shortcuts.
Changed
- The start page is replaced by the part editor. Licenses moved to the Help menu in the top bar.
Licenses
- New Third-party software page lists the open source components in Moket, including the Open CASCADE Technology geometry kernel. Open it from Licenses on the start page.
Moket Help
- The Moket Help user manual is available at app.moket.io/help. Start with What is Moket.
- The Moket Studio start page shows the current development stage and links to Help.
