Export an animation
Record a motion study as a video or a GIF, for a presentation, a review or a message. The recording shows the viewport as you set it: the view direction, the zoom and the finishes.
Access: a motion study's panel > Export.
Record
- Open the study and set up the view in the viewport.
- Under Export, choose Video or GIF.
- Choose the Size and the Frame rate.
- Click Export video or Export GIF. The panel counts the frames; the file downloads when it is done.
| Format | Frame rates | File |
|---|---|---|
| Video | 30, 60 fps | WebM where the browser records it, MP4 in Safari. Recorded in real time: a 4 s study takes 4 s |
| GIF | 10, 15, 20 fps | An animated GIF that loops, encoded frame by frame |
The file is named after the assembly and the study, for example Drill press - Feed stroke.webm.
Tips
- Keep the browser tab in front while a video records: browsers slow down tabs in the background, and the video would play slower than the study.
- A GIF of 640 x 360 at 10 fps stays small enough for chat and email; use video for anything longer than a few seconds.
