Export a drawing

Download a drawing as PDF to print or send, or a sheet as DXF to open in another CAD program. Both are made in your browser from the sheet as you see it.

Access: Export PDF and DXF at the right of the drawing toolbar. Shortcut for PDF: Ctrl+P.

Export PDF

Click Export PDF. The file <drawing name>.pdf has one page per sheet at true size (A4 297 x 210 mm up to A0 1189 x 841 mm, ANSI A 8.5 x 11 in up to ANSI E 34 x 44 in), so it prints at the drawing's scale on that paper. Lines are vector with ISO 128 widths, and the text font is embedded, so the file looks the same everywhere.

Export DXF

Click DXF. The file <drawing name> - <sheet name>.dxf holds the sheet on screen, in millimeters, in the AutoCAD R2000 format that LibreCAD, QCAD, AutoCAD and most CAD programs open.

LayerContents
VISIBLEVisible edges and silhouettes of the views
HIDDENHidden edges, with the DASHED line type
CENTERCenter marks and centerlines, with the CENTER line type
DIMENSIONDimensions, as dimension objects; hole callouts and notes' leaders
TEXTNotes and the views' captions
HATCHThe hatching of section views, as hatch objects
SYMBOLDatums, feature control frames and surface texture symbols, each a block
FRAMEThe frame, its zones, the revision table and the title block's outline
TITLEThe title block: its lines, texts, filled fields and an imported drawing

What other programs see:

  • Dimensions are dimension objects with their measurement, so the other program lists them as dimensions and reads their values. They keep the text Moket wrote, tolerance included, and the arrows and text as Moket drew them. In a view at another scale than 1:1 they carry the scale factor (DIMLFAC), so the other program measures the part's size, not the size on the sheet.
  • Section hatching is a hatch object over the cut faces' outlines, so it stays one object you can select, change or remove.
  • Symbols are blocks whose texts are attributes: the datum letter, each cell of a feature control frame, the surface texture parameters. Edit them as attributes in the other program.
  • Texts use the text style ISOCPEUR on ISO drawings and ROMANS on ASME drawings, the names of the lettering fonts most CAD programs have; one that lacks the font shows its own.

Limitations

  • Dimensions in a DXF keep Moket's text: changing their style in the other program does not change their value or tolerance.
  • Hatching in a detail or broken view is written as lines, as the view clips it.
  • Logos of the title block are in the PDF, not in the DXF.
  • A sheet with a problem, such as a dimension that lost its edge, exports as you see it, with ? in place of that value.
